When the history of audio electronics pioneers is finally written, chapters will be devoted to a short list of designers, including (but not limited to) Bill Putnam, Rupert Neve, Dick Swettenham (Helios), Tim Di Paravicini (EAR) and, of course, the ubiquitous and uniquely versatile George Massenberg.
Opinionated, cerebral, twenty years younger than he ought to be and a man who above all else cares about music, Mr. Massenberg divides his talent between printing some of the best mixes of all time (from Little Feat to Earth Wind and Fire to a series of blockbusters with Linda Ronstadt) and developing an original range of sound processing equipment that has become the staple diet of recording and mastering engineers around the world.
His talent speaks for itself. Plaudits to his talent abound (one of my favourites being from Roger Nichols… ‘That George Massenberg really pisses me off! If his recordings start sounding any better I'm going to have his fingers broken! ...’ ) but the best testament to his range of hardware is the fact that so many top studios have relied upon it for more than two decades.
If you don’t know GML equipment, then you’ve been missing out on true classics, and missing out big time. Make up for lost time and check it out now. We have units on demo and available for testing on your own sessions. With the sinking $$$, prices are a whole lot lower than you might think.
